  • MSC CARLA Ship yard. Hull structure failure, ship hull broke in two, front section, travelled to Spain and USA. Attended deposition and provided expert testimony at trial in New York.


  • NAPA Cargo underwriters. VLCC which sustained cracking of the side shell and side shell longitudinal, resulting in oil spillage, Indian Ocean, travelled to Bahrain, case settled.


  • ALEXANDROS T London Hull market, Cape size bulk carrier which sank in South Africa, 26 lives lost. Acted on behalf of the London Hull market (H&M), case settled.


  • MSC NAPOLI Charterers, Hull structural failure in the South coast of England. Total loss, case settled.


  • GIOVANNI DP Owners, corrosion of duplex stainless steel tank tops, travelled to Spain and Italy, case settled.


  • GEORGE T London hull market, Cape size bulk carrier which sustained side shell damages. Acted on behalf of the London Hull market, travelled to Belgium, case settled.

  • CASTOR Cargo underwriters, Oil tanker with a major crack in the main deck plating (22m) associated with severe corrosion of main structural members, case settled.


  • PRESTIGE Owners, Oil tanker, structural failure and subsequent total loss of fully landed tanker.


  • MUHIBBAH MEB-JB 1 Charterers, Jack up rig, cracking to spud-leg compartments, gave expert evidence at arbitration in Hamburg.


  • EVIE PG H&M, Newly built tanker with cracking associated with extensive amount of defective hull welds, acted on behalf of Hull Insurance.


  • BARDCAROLLE - Cracking of seam weld that was found to be associated with defective welding, travelled to France, case settled.

  • AL QAWIYYU - Owners, alleged damage to large shipment of reinforcing bar (19,000mt), provided expert evidence to the Commercial Court of Aden, Yemen.


  • ATASOVLA II - Single joint expert, advised on nature and cause of steel cargo water damage.


  • ADAMANDAS - Owners, shipment of DRI from CIL (Point Lisas) to Indonesia, overheating of cargo and subsequent loss of ship, attended in Trinidad.

Salvage

  • VERTIGO - Attended in Denmark and advised on behalf of the Salvors in relation to a valuable cargo of steel products, over $25 million, which had been salvaged after a collision.


  • AL ZAHRAR attended Spain on behalf of salvors, seawater wetted HR coils retrieved from sunken vessel


  • OCEAN CROWN - Grounded carrying copper concentrates. Attended in Chile and assisted Salvors during arbitration hearing.

Sale and/or New Build Disputes

  • KING CHARLES & KING CONRAD - New building dispute, advising new owners on various metallurgical aspects. Provided expert evidence and the case settled during arbitration.


  • UNION POWER Owners, crankshaft failure, dispute with sellers over condition of crankshaft, attended in Greece, provided evidence in Arbitration in London.


  • MAERSK NOVA Owners, erection block weld problems during conversion to FPSO, attended in Singapore


  • MINERVA JULIE & MINERVA JOANNE - New build, assisted STX shipyard (Korea) regarding the cracking in new rudder horns ,attended in Greece and South Korea, settled.


  • ALPINE PENELOPE New build, representing Owners, cracking in tank structures after hydro testing, sailed with vessel from Singapore to Sikka, India


  • SAKALIN ISLAND - Newly built ship, acting on behalf of Owners. Cracking of erection block weld joints within warranty period, sailed with ship Denmark to UK. Case settled.


  • STENA CONCORDIA & STENA CONTINENT Sellers, VLCC conversions to FSOP's. Investigated nature and extent of web frame cracking, attended at Singapore and Brazil.

Land based

  • CONTAINER CRANE - Business interruption insurers, collapse of main boom during lifting, travelled to Dubai.


  • R -v- JANET JONES - Acted for defence in Crown Court case (Liverpool) of a police officer accused of dangerous driving.
